A strong assessment process is essential for designing effective, individualized neurofeedback training.
A strong assessment process is essential for designing effective, individualized neurofeedback training. The client intake often contains important clues about arousal regulation, instability, trauma history, developmental patterns, sleep, attention, emotional reactivity, pain, sensory sensitivity, and other factors that may influence training decisions.
When this information is gathered thoughtfully and combined with objective QIK test data, it can help clinicians better understand what may or may not work for a particular client.
This 90-minute workshop will focus on how to extract clinically relevant information during the intake process and use it to guide early protocol development. Participants will learn how to listen for key symptom patterns, ask more targeted follow-up questions, identify possible indicators of dysregulation, and organize the information in a way that supports practical clinical decision-making.
The workshop will also explore how to integrate intake findings with QIK test data to develop a more complete picture of the client’s nervous system functioning. We will discuss how objective measures can support, clarify, or sometimes challenge the clinical impression gathered from the intake, and how both sources of information can be used together to identify useful starting points, anticipate sensitivities, recognize possible contraindications, and refine the training plan.
The final portion of the workshop will be dedicated to questions and discussion, giving participants the opportunity to bring assessment-related challenges, intake questions, and clinical examples into the conversation.
